The Abbaye St Martin du Canigou is a 40 minute walk from La Mirabelle, sacred Abbaye  of Catalan Romanesque art, it is well worth a visit.

Less than 5 minutes from the famous spa town of Vernet-les-Bains and 10 minutes from Villefranche-de-Conflent, a UNESCO-listed town fortified by Vauban and classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, the village of Casteil will win you over with its mild climate, sunshine and diverse landscapes.

Casteil is the ideal starting point for hikes to the Pic du Canigou and excursions to the main cultural and natural sites in the Conflent. Mediterranean beaches are just 50 minutes away, and the lively city of Perpignan is just 40 minutes away.
